In her review for The Spectator, Tanya Gold portrays Dear Jackie at Broadwick Soho as far more than a restaurant - it is, she writes, "a long-conceived homage to the painful ecstasy of nostalgia." Named after owner Noel Hayden's mother, and inspired by his childhood in a now-lost family hotel, Dear Jackie sits at the heart of a building steeped in memory and theatricality. Gold describes the restaurant's red fabric walls, floral banquettes, tulip-shaped lamps and stage-like curtains as "happily insane," conjuring a vivid dreamscape of 1970s glamour. Across the hotel, she notes, guests encounter original works by Andy Warhol and pieces acquired from David Bowie's personal collection, further deepening the sense of narrative and artistry. A photograph of Noel as a child performing magic with his father, displayed in the bar, becomes a quiet emblem of the hotel's origins. For Gold, it's not just a dining experience - it's a love letter in layered, immersive form.
